Your video brilliantly captures the struggle many of us face between instant gratification and financial security. That tip about "Doom spending" really hit home. I've definitely felt that "why bother saving" mindset before! Have you found that automating savings is the most powerful habit change? I love how you balance frugality with intentional joy. It's not about never spending but spending on what truly matters. Looking forward to trying your low-spend week challenge this month!

"Doom Spending' is a great tip, I first interpreted it as 'stocking up on things, overstocking because of some catastrophe, which I am very guilty of, I buy double and triple and quadruple of everything with that mindset and have overspent needlessly on things I may never ever use. Not any more, thank goodness I stopped that I have enough shoes to supplies to last me the next 30 years

There are no Banks in the Cemetery so the best approach is to Save/Invest but also enjoy Life because it’s the only one People have.

Planning what Savings People have in 10/20/30 Years is useless.
Cancer grows faster than Interest and the older People get the more likely of Cancer.

Worry about Money but worry more about living.

Budgeting is not how to save money, it is how to spend money. One of those expenditures would be savings (assuming you do not have debt that needs to be cleared). I know budgeting can be very helpful in spending your money on your high priorities (both needs and wants), but only if you budget the money you actually have. Projections are just that, projections.

It's recommended to save at least 15% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 15% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.

I have always found that the numbers for a budget are never accurate. You don't know what coming up. I end up being able to pay less on clothes some months for example (next to nothing) and yet Ive budgetted for it – encourages me to spend when there is no need. The same with food. Instead I go through my monthly expenses on line to keep myself disciplined. I know what I need to save and I just keep reigning it in as much as possible. Organising and planning instead of knee jerk or panic buying is so important. My car battery went 70miles from home and instead of panicking and joining the AA for a huge one off cost and enforced yearly contract, I phoned a local towing company to where I was who took me to a local car parts shop, halving the cost. Boredom anxiety and poor organisation are my greatest enemies.

I live in the US putting money in my opinion into a retirement plan is not something that will help you gain wealth unless you’re already a wealthy person with no debt/low debt. We are in the beginning stages of a Depression as well as The Grand Solar Minimum which is why we are having such crazy whacky weather all over the world which in return is affecting our food supply,.this cycle which comes every 400 yrs last at least 25 years..your best bet is to invest in your home and in your property, what I mean by that is, is to buy anything possible that’s perennial an edible invest in a greenhouse invest in garden beds, invest in seeds, invest in chicken, coops, and chickens anything that you can do to help raise your own food it’s gonna be more valuable than gold in my opinion as well as self sufficiency skills. Have a woodstove have a root cellar look into trying to keep. look into someway that you can stay cool during the summer or if you live in a hot climate, because our electric is gonna go sky high. Learn to grow aquaponics anything at all to help you feed yourself.. Many people don’t believe what I’m saying and that’s OK but will find out as time goes on. My words will be correct.. learn to cook/bake from scratch and preserve.

Budgets do not work. They restrict. And now I am wealthy because I saw the truth about having a budget. Yes fixed monthly expenses are expected. A car loan. A mortgage. A retirement contribution. But other expenses are not fixed and probably should not be budgeted for in my opinion. Today I saved $40 dollars on mulch and am now $40 dollars richer. A budget would have prevented me from spending my money on a good deal.

I curtail purchases, just stop buying. Fear of homelessness is real.
Even with food, I have became picky. Bake from scratch, eat fruits, vegetables, seafood, a bit of chicken, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt.

Totally agree regarding setting a budget – I never budget, but I save and invest at least 60% of my monthly salary as soon as it comes in and do the other things. I don't like the restrictive feeling of a budget and have done just fine.

Love the fact that £500 can accrue so much interest. I'm of an age where I'm trying to put as much as I can into my pension and I'm paying two extra AVCs as I only have 7 more years to retirement and unfortunately didn't consider this as a priority until a couple of years ago but I've also managed to invest another £100 a month as well for the last couple of years and its averaging between 7 & 8% so far. It's scary when the rates go down but so far I'm holding my nerve and long-term it seems to be paying off.
