Hi! Is math hard in Finance bachelor? what kind of math? i'm considering getting a Finance degree, but i'm afraid that it includes a lot of hard math.

This video was very informative! I’m currently a high school grad who’ll be starting college in Fall 2025. I planned on majoring in Management information systems and minoring in Finance (or something close to it like Business analytics if my school doesn’t offer it as a minor). But since the past couple days, I’ve been reconsidering my choices and thinking about whether I should instead major in Finance and minor in MIS or something tech related. As far as my career goals go, I am honestly not sure what exactly I want to do, I like both finance and tech (certain parts of it like data analytics, AI, and machine learning; I can’t code for my whole life) and that’s why I chose MIS since it’s like a nice mix of both. At some point I would want to get more into the finance side or something that’s a mix of both tech and finance, so would love to hear your thoughts on this, what would you recommend majoring in? Can I still get finance roles like FP&A, Commercial finance, consulting, etc with an MIS degree?
I'm about to do my Bsc Finance major in Kenya and would probably complete it 4yrs down the line. What tech skills would you recommend i keep tabs on assuming i want get an analyst or accounting role upon graduation?

It’s insane to expect someone to go get a degree and then learn all of these skills with coding and platforms and then pay them a teachers salary after all of that time and effort.
Would you pick a computer science degree or a finance degree. If you are interested in the business side of things but not necessarily a programmer

i’m currently majoring in finance and let me tell you the schools and curriculum aren’t teaching me anything. i have to do my own homework and research on my own time in order to understand what is being said. and hopefully when im able to get a good job in finance i’ll be able to learn more about the stuff i was taught in college and refine them and maybe even learn them all over again to better understand what was being told in school. because the education isn’t keeping up with the changes and current events that are happening. Where as i am someone who needs to learn hands on rather than reading stuff out of a textbook and being expected to learn it all at once.
This video really highlights the important aspects of a finance career. It's easy to get lost in the details. By the way, I’ve been told that using AI for resumes, like with Resubot, can save a lot of time.
Great tips in this video. I wish I had this advice before I graduated. It’s definitely a competitive field out there.

If there was no real world application to your program, it’s a bad program. UW Madison is a good school, and I’d consider that your education enabled you to apply what you learned in your program.
This is why I always tell my peers in class that a lot of things don’t matter what we learn in class things be out dated and we get teach the same thing that somebody 20 yrs ago got teached and the average human doesn’t remember everything from these classes that’s why jumping into the real world with this degree they will teach like you know nothing even if you don’t
