I decided to start a tutoring business this year for students at my Uni.
I did a lot of prep for subjects people were not interested in during the holidays. I ended up dropping 2 and now I only offer 2 subjects.
I got on the group chats and started advertising and at first people joined but they were only interested in the free trail, which I no longer offer.
March was okay and I got 12 people to sign up for the month. This month I only have 3.
People just kept leaving. I guess they don't need it anymore, this honestly broke my heart. Mind you, I need 30 students to make money to feel like I am doing something.
Today, I went on campus and talked to people, face to face. It was so intimidating. You are right, students are broke. I did try to appeal to their parents, I told them to ask them to pay and that might help.
I have never been a business person and I have never had an idea to do any business, or dreamed of having a business. Unlike YouTube, which I have wanted to started for almost a decade and did nothing. I just went for this without thinking. I used to tutor for a friend and he told me how much he made and I wanted in, so I started my own thing.
I need courage to talk to more people, and not do everything online. I feel people respond better in person.

So isn't the first(start it first) and last point(find a customer to pay for it first) contradictory?
I mean if I start with 4-5 ideas and don't get customers to pay for any of those, wouldn't that naturally lead to thinking "how" to get people to pay, before i start? and then there will be a chicken and egg loop!!!
