Hey Afzal
Watched your videos in Uni and realised investment banking wasn't for me. I ended up in corporate treasury out of uni. It's fun, but I feel like I am lacking the investment analysis and financial modelling aspect which attracted me to finance in the first place. Here I am back on your channel looking into where I can transition into while my career is still fresh. Glad to see you still going strong with the channel after all these years!
Wonderful analysis Afzal. I found it very useful. Thanks as always Afzal!
The School Trap: A Dark Place Disguised as Safety
You’re told school is your safety net. It’s not. It’s a sinister labyrinth that swallows dreams whole.
A Promise of Salvation: They say a diploma is your key to a better future. But for many, it’s a cursed talisman—an empty paper leading to dead-end jobs and crushing debt. It’s like signing a contract with a smiling devil, only to realize too late that you’ve sold your future for nothing.
Frozen in Time: The curriculum feels like a graveyard of ancient ideas. The world outside is a storm of change, but inside, you’re fed rotting facts that decay in your mind. By the time you graduate, your knowledge is a corpse in a world of the living.
The Death of Individuality: In the halls of school, you’re not a person; you’re a number, a grade, a statistic. It strips away your soul piece by piece, grinding you into a faceless crowd. Your passions and creativity are slowly suffocated until all that’s left is a hollow shell, a ghost wandering through standardized tests.
A Nightmare for the Mind: The walls of school echo with silent screams. It’s a breeding ground for anxiety, a factory of fear. Students hide their suffering behind forced smiles, trapped in a mental cage. It’s a place where the weak break, and the strong are haunted forever by the pressure.
The Cruel Lie of Equality: They preach that education is fair and equal, but it’s a grotesque lie. Wealthy students are handed golden keys, while the rest claw at locked doors. For many, school is a pit they’re pushed into—a place where their dreams are crushed before they even take root.
Unprepared and Afraid: The day you leave school, you step into a world of shadows, unarmed and afraid. No one taught you how to navigate the dark forests of debt, taxes, or survival. It’s like being thrown into a cold, endless ocean without a life vest, watching the safety net vanish into thin air.
School isn’t a sanctuary. It’s a horror story wrapped in a disguise of safety and hope. It’s a place that whispers comfort but leaves you stranded in the real world—a place where the safety net you counted on was nothing but a spider’s web, trapping you in a false sense of security before consuming you whole.
Remember finding your channel about a month ago, so refreshing and straight forward.
I did Biochem at uni, but have lost passion in the field. Looking at finance jobs now as I love being analytical but dislike the toxic vibes you see portrayed and horrendous work life balance, any tips?
Hey Afzal, I’m a politics grad but interested in Hedge funds – could you make a video on how to get into these type of firms
u been hitting gym bro?
Started in asset management and was boring then into real estate fund management and far better. Can potentially make 8 figures a year if working on high end commercial buildings
I have to say Afzal its a really informative video you put out today. Its going to help me a lot in my ambitions in IB. More success to you man.
Can please make video on how to switch from Middle office Operations to Boutique Investment Bank.
In my professional life, I start in Private Banking, ( Boring for me) managing accounts, deposits and credits for UHNWI & HNWI. Then I switch to Wealth Management ( Very interesting for me ) managing investments portfolios for clients/investors. Now I am in Asset Management; managing Hedge Funds that invest in Private Credit, Financial Derivatives and other Alternative Investments. ( Very exciting for me )
I already gave up before I began. This video really puts everything into perspective. Thanks Afzal.
Hello Afzal, please make a video on how to break into hedge funds as a fresher.
