Many of the "free" brokers have huge spreads and make money that way, which wasn't mentioned. That means you dont get the best price when entering into positions so for large orders, fixed fee legacy services can work out cheaper.

I read on an Invest Engine website page that they are able to reduce costs by charging, and keeping, interest on free cash held in Stocks and Shares ISAs. Its one way they make money from the platform (aside from Managed Portfolios and I'm guessing other things). HOWEVER, with the new rules off 22% on interest made on S&S ISA free cash my guess is people may not be holding reasonable figures there anymore so Invest Engine's revenue from this will decrease. And then what? Will they increase fees whereas now many functions are free – if they can't balance out the loss? I may have missed something here and I'm joining the dots I can see – has this been discussed in a video? I'd be interested to watch this discussion. It must impact other platforms as well.

Whilst no experience of other platforms 212's customer service via chat is excellent – Appreciate it would have been a mammoth task but some info on the quality of the customer service on all of these platforms would be useful. As ever Damien – great video and very informative!

My late father used to be investors interactors. I am shocked to se Investors Interactors charges these extortionate fees. It's not worthy it. I am pleased to be trading 212 easier to navigate and more beneficial 👍

Good video but out of my depth here, I just opened a vanguard uk stocks & shares ISA yesterday with intentions of monthly deposits into the S&P 500 market, sort of like set and forget for years to come hopefully, vanguard wasn’t mentioned in this video, but from what I’ve researched, for my purposes it’s the best option out there, can someone who has experience in investing help me on this pls?
I also found out that they have a monthly £4 subscription fee which i didn’t know about I only thought the charges are the 0.05% they take, and this has kind of been a buzz kill but I continued setting it up only because I’ve done weeks of research into the S&P 500 and everyone says vanguard is better than trading 212, well by everyone I mean some of the internet searches😅

As an investment newbie who'd looking for a S&S ISA that's managed by "experts" so I can set it and forget it, what options would be best? Would also really appreciate a breakdown of, say, Vanguard vs Fidelity in that regard

Hi Damien, if I invest into a 212 Stocks & Shares ISA with a foreign bank account (I’m looking to invest in it from my Qatar bank account – 212 allows it to connect to my Qatar bank account with no issues), can I then withdraw that money from the ISA to my UK bank account (Danske Bank)?

Thanks, have been subscribed to you since 2020 👍

Interactive Brokers might look a bit overcomplicated. But their fees are among the lowest. £36 annual inactivity fee is less than £72/180 annual charged by Interactive Investor, for example. Also that inactivity is not charged on non-ISA accounts

Spot on advice as usual, your channel is my go-to for making sense of UK personal finance. I always get tied in knots trying to calculate exactly how much to save each month to hit my future goals without leaving myself short right now. I’ve been messing about with Zenith Wealth Planner over the last week and it’s genuinely helped me visualise the split between my options.

I’ve had T212 and Interactive Brokers ISA accounts for the last 3 years, I use IBKR everyday inc their Tradingview charts (without having to pay Tradingview) and sometimes use T212 but not that often as it doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as flexible, IBKR is a bit clunky though but that doesn’t matter now I’m used to it.

Hi Damien, great video mate and interesting to watch but as a complete beginner to investing at 44 years old, it was a bit over my head. But I say that respectfully as this video is probably more aimed at peeps who have already dipped there toes into investing, however at 44 is it too late for me to get started with investing and if not which platform would you recommend for a complete beginner like me who just wants to invest my first £50 in a set it and forget it global ETF Index funds?

I’ve been using Prosper for my SIPP when I merged 3 old work place pensions in September 25. Fee free and fund fee refunded too, once they end that I will probably look elsewhere but a good option for sure!

If you proved to youself you are not just a pretty face or thinking about some serious money Interactive Brookers is by far the best
No other platform is capable of that. Yes you can do that even with ISA restrictions and no leverage. Although it would be better if there was x3 or x5 as professional portfolio has minimum deviation possible that requires multiples

@DamienTalksMoney. Thank you for another great video and helping me start investing at 44. You mentioned in this that you keep your investments in several platforms partly to spread the risk and for the 120k protection. I am looking to put a large sum into one platform this year and was a little worried about this. I have started my investment journey with trading 212's s and s ISA and would rather not have lots of different pots when it comes to decumilation and for working out tax etc. How safe is it to have your whole retirement pot in one of these platforms? Many thanks and please do a video or podcasts on decumilation strategies for the oldies 😅
